My brother (an excellent landscape photographer) interned for the national park service (the internship was to help map the park using GPS) in the Tetons a few summers ago. This week’s picture is one he took while there and just recently processed. This was pretty much his view during work and from the house he was staying in (it had a ridiculously good view of the entire Teton range).
Rough work, eh?

Thanks for the complement bro! This is a very well know and special place in Grand Teton National Park and one of my favorite. The Tetons are most commonly shot in the early morning due to Teton Range’s north-south orientation. Often times, if there is not any type of foreseeable dramatic weather, dusk is probably one of the least desirable times to photograph the Tetons. The shots are often silhouetted by the setting sun, but many say if you are going to shoot at dusk the Oxbow Bend is your best bet, a popular spot as well. My recommendation, if you are going to this region would be to get up early (before dawn), go to a pre-planned area, TREAD LIGHTLY (there has been significant degradation of vegetation and landscape around these popular photography staging areas due to the large numbers of photographers that visit these magical locations year after year), find your camera location, then wait, wait, wait, shoot until about 830 or 900 or until you feel you have captured what you wanted to, pack up, travel the park, enjoy it, respect it, locate and area that you would want to photograph the next morning, pre-plan your camera location, eat lunch and hike Cascade Canyon in the afternoon. In the evening drive to Jackson and finish off your day at Snake River Brewery & Restaurant, it has great food and great atmosphere!
